Goods transporters in Faisalabad have announced a protest against the increasing token and toll taxes, saying the growing financial burden is negatively affecting their businesses.
Chairman of the Mini Mazda Association, Chaudhry Aslam, said the protest will be held on July 21, during which mini-goods transporters will demand a reduction in token and toll taxes imposed on the sector.
He stated that the association is seeking dialogue with the government and does not intend to go on strike. According to Aslam, transporters hope the authorities will address their concerns through negotiations and provide relief from the rising operational costs.
However, he warned that if the government fails to respond positively to their demands after the protest, the association will announce its next course of action.
The transporters argue that the continued increase in taxes is placing additional pressure on the goods transport sector, making it more difficult for operators to sustain their businesses.
