Google revamps ‘My account’ for improved security and privacy

Google has revamped its “My account” feature making it easier to manage the security and privacy settings for every user. For example, the ‘privacy checkup’ tool audits through settings like whether your web and account activity are being recorded or whether you want to keep a YouTube ‘watch’ history.

Google has added a quick way to access the ad tools settings, making it a breeze to manage tailored advertisements or opting out of it totally. The “Security checkup” tools audit your security settings for any discrepancies, displays your recent events, connected devices and apps that have access to your account.

Along with this revamp, Google has also launched a website to cater to your privacy concerns, by providing a forum to ask questions or accessing answers pertaining to privacy. It is a searchable database which provides any user’s privacy concerns.

Google has been criticized for not addressing user’s privacy concerns especially pertaining to the way they use the data collated and collected in the past. This may help reduce criticism on the part of most users and address their concerns for starters.
