Honor has announced MagicOS 11, its latest software built around Android 17. The company revealed the new system at its Global Developer Conference today. MagicOS 11 introduces a redesigned interface inspired by Apple’s liquid glass design.
Honor says the new look is powered by its custom Luminous and Hummingbird base architectures. These systems are designed to improve interface animations, AI processing, and overall hardware performance. The company has also made several visual changes across the operating system.
Despite the visual overhaul, Honor claims MagicOS 11 can deliver up to 20% faster system animations. The improvement is measured against MagicOS 10. The update also adds redesigned icons, menu items, and widgets.
Users will also get more control over the home screen. Honor has added customizable tinting for home screen icons and the dock. This gives users more ways to change the appearance of the interface.
The update also brings a new version of Honor’s Yoyo AI assistant. It is designed to handle more than 1,000 scenarios and supports over 10,000 third-party AI services in China. Honor says Yoyo can also complete long-distance tasks involving up to 100 steps.
Storage Space 2.0 is another major addition in MagicOS 11. It uses lossless compression to reduce the space taken by stored data. Honor claims the feature can free up to 60GB of storage.
MagicOS 11 also expands device connectivity beyond Honor’s own ecosystem. Users can share files and connect more easily with Apple ecosystem devices. Support also extends to devices from Oppo, vivo, and Xiaomi.
The software will debut on the upcoming Honor Magic9 series. Meanwhile, Honor has already opened the public beta for more than 18 devices. The list includes the Magic8 series, Magic V6, and Honor 600 models.
A second group of phones can also register for the internal beta program. It includes the Magic6 series, Magic V3, Honor 400, and Honor 500 series. More eligible devices are expected to join between October and November.
With MagicOS 11, Honor is combining a major visual redesign with broader AI features. The update also puts more focus on storage and cross-platform connectivity. However, availability will vary across devices and markets.
