Just recently, Rockstar confirmed a major feature for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game. Rockstar Games officially announced an “advanced weather system” for GTA 6. Consequently, players will experience an immersive and highly accurate depiction of Florida’s climate.
The GTA 6 Weather System & the State of Leonida
The dynamic weather system captures the state’s famous bright sunshine. However, the game also embraces “less-sunny weather phenomena”. Therefore, players can expect extreme conditions like tropical storms and severe hurricanes. Interestingly, this official announcement aligns perfectly with earlier leaked Rockstar job listings.
Furthermore, GTA 6 expands far beyond the borders of Vice City. Players will explore the massive state of Leonida. This sprawling map includes the Leonida Keys, the city of Ambrosia, and Port Gellhorn. Port Gellhorn draws its direct inspiration from real-life Panama City.
Wildlife, Interiors & Side Activities
Inside Leonida, developers have packed a “staggering amount of wildlife”. As a result, hunting and fishing will serve as major side activities. Moreover, players can engage in backyard wrestling, basketball, scuba diving, and parachuting.
Additionally, the game drastically increases the number of explorable interior locations. Players can seamlessly enter clubs, apartment buildings, and the main characters’ homes.
Returning Characters & Record-Breaking Sales
Rockstar also treated fans to some familiar faces in the recent Extended Look trailer. Specifically, the developer confirmed the return of Valentina from Grand Theft Auto Online. Meanwhile, sharp-eyed fans spotted a character who strongly resembles Phil Cassidy from GTA: Vice City running an Ammu-Nation. Rockstar has not yet confirmed this character’s true identity, though.
Finally, the official November 19 release date approaches quickly. Financially, early projections suggest Rockstar could generate a staggering $5 billion in revenue during the debut week alone. Currently, game pre-orders are breaking records on Xbox. Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball recently confirmed this Xbox milestone. He shared this data to directly refute claims that PS5 pre-orders were significantly outselling Xbox. Clearly, GTA 6 is shaping up to be a monumental release for the gaming industry.
