GTA 6 to Feature User-Generated Content and Customizable Game Environments

Rockstar Games is reportedly planning to integrate user-generated content (UGC) into Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), drawing inspiration from platforms like Roblox and Fortnite. According to a recent report, the company aims to position GTA 6 as a metaverse-style platform, enabling players to create and share custom content within the game.

According to reports, Rockstar Games has been in communication with prominent Fortnite and Roblox creators to investigate the possibility of incorporating custom content into Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar is likely to be interested in following a similar course, as both Fortnite and Roblox have established flourishing ecosystems centred around creator-driven content and brand collaborations.

Rockstar’s objective is to establish GTA 6 as the next major metaverse-style platform, thereby motivating creators to develop distinctive experiences within the game, according to a Digiday report published on Monday.

According to reports, the organisation has been in discussions with prominent gaming content creators and seasoned GTA modders in order to investigate potential partnerships. Although financial details are still uncertain, it is not uncommon for creators in comparable ecosystems to receive a portion of in-game purchases that are associated with their custom content.

User-generated content is not a novel concept in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. In 2023, Rockstar acquired FiveM, a prominent modding platform, as a result of GTA 5 Online’s long-standing support for role-playing servers and extensive modding. GTA 5 Online has developed into a live-service model over the years, generating consistent revenue through in-game purchases of virtual assets, real estate, and vehicles.

Rockstar has not yet formally revealed its intentions for Grand Theft Auto 6’s online component, despite the continuous rumours.
