Quantum Global Data Centre (QGDC), a venture of the Gul Ahmed Energy Group, plans to build the largest Tier III data centre in Pakistan with an initial $230 million investment, set for 2027.
The total investment for the project could expand to $600 million over the next three to four years, according to Bloomberg and company announcements.
QGDC signed a strategic partnership with Huawei Pakistan to develop the facility alongside a science and technology park supporting Pakistan’s national digital transformation agenda.
QGDC Chairman Danish Iqbal said Pakistan currently spends between $700 million and $800 million annually on AI, even while remaining in the early stages of adoption.
He warned that demand for computing power would rise sharply and that Pakistan could import billions of dollars in data services without domestic infrastructure investment.
Iqbal said local demand for data centre capacity was already significant across businesses, hospitals, educational institutions, and rapidly expanding cloud-based digital service providers.
Summit speakers argued that investment in digital infrastructure would produce an outsized economic impact for Pakistan’s broader technology and innovation development.
