The government is officially returning withholding taxes. Consequently, SadaPay is issuing these refunds directly to its customers.
Why Are SadaPay Users Getting Extra Money?
Users quickly identified the incoming funds as Withholding Tax (WHT) refunds. The government is actively refunding taxes levied on previous international transactions. Reportedly, this mandate applies to payments executed between 2022 and 2024.
SadaPay processes these tax refunds automatically. Therefore, you do not need to fill out forms or contact support. Furthermore, users can verify their eligible transactions directly inside the application. You simply need to locate the “Tax refund statement” document within the app. One user noted that the refund rate calculates at exactly 10% per transaction.
From 1 Rupee to 100,000 PKR
Refund amounts vary wildly across the user base. Some customers received a mere 1 PKR. Conversely, other users secured massive returns of around 115,000 PKR. Heavy reliance on platforms like AliExpress largely drove these top-tier refunds.
Furthermore, many Reddit users reported diverse windfall amounts online. Numerous accounts verified receiving mid-tier refunds ranging from 1,600 PKR up to 21,000 PKR. Additionally, smaller refunds frequently hit user accounts. Customers netted smaller amounts like 111 PKR, 480 PKR, or 625 PKR. Subscriptions to digital services, including Google One, Snapchat, and Netflix, specifically generated these smaller returns.
Meanwhile, user behavior shows a clear, cautious trend. Several users immediately transferred their refunded money into secondary bank accounts. They executed these transfers to secure the unexpected funds. However, not everyone is satisfied. Some users expressed intense frustration over missing refunds despite possessing a history of international payments. Additionally, users are now openly questioning when rival financial service NayaPay will begin issuing similar refunds.
