Huawei has launched its Nova 16 series in China with four new smartphones. The Nova 16 Ultra leads the lineup with advanced cameras and a large battery. It targets users who want strong performance and long-lasting power.
The Nova 16 Ultra comes with a 7,000 mAh battery. It supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. The device also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, making it more durable for daily use.
On the front, the phone features a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED display. It offers FHD+ resolution and a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The screen is protected by Kunlun Glass and reaches up to 6,000 nits peak local brightness. In addition, a 50MP front camera sits inside a pill-shaped cutout, along with a 1.5MP spectral sensor. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side of the power button for quick access.
Huawei uses its in-house Kirin 9010S chipset. The same processor first appeared in the Pura 80 last year. Moreover, the phone supports satellite communication in China. Users can send and receive text messages through Beidou satellites when needed.
At the back, the Nova 16 Ultra has a vegan leather finish around its camera island. The design includes two large camera cutouts and a compact sensor layout. It also carries a spectral sensor and an LED flash.
For photography, the main highlight is a 200MP RYYB primary sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size. It supports an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. Alongside it, Huawei includes a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.7x optical zoom and an 88mm equivalent focal length. A third 50MP ultra-wide camera also works as a macro shooter with an f/2.2 aperture.
The Nova 16 Ultra runs HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box. It comes in blue, white, and black color options. In China, the starting price is CNY 4,699, which is about $695 or €596. The top variant with 1TB storage costs CNY 5,799, around $857 or €735. Huawei will start shipments on June 6.
