Huawei has quietly introduced the nova Y74 in global markets, nearly a year after the launch of the nova Y73. The new budget-friendly 4G smartphone brings a large display, a massive battery, and a familiar design that closely matches the Enjoy 90 Plus, which Huawei launched in China earlier this year.
The Huawei Nova Y74 features a 6.67-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel offers HD+ resolution and reaches up to 850 nits of peak brightness. As a result, users can expect smoother scrolling and better outdoor visibility during daily use.
Huawei has not officially confirmed the chipset powering the smartphone. However, the device strongly resembles the Enjoy 90 Plus. Because of this, it is likely running on a Kirin 800-series processor.
One of the biggest highlights of the nova Y74 is its large 6,620mAh battery. The phone also supports 40W wired fast charging. According to Huawei, the battery can provide up to 25 hours of online video playback on a single charge. This should make the device suitable for users who need long battery life throughout the day.
For photography, the smartphone includes a 50MP primary rear camera placed inside a square-shaped camera module. On the front, Huawei has added an 8MP selfie camera for video calls and casual photography.
The nova Y74 runs on EMUI 12 out of the box. Huawei has also included its X Button feature, which gives users quick access to apps, shortcuts, and frequently used functions with a single tap.
In terms of connectivity, the smartphone supports Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. It also offers dual-SIM 4G support. In addition, the handset includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
Huawei is offering the nova Y74 in Black and Blue color options. However, the company has not yet revealed the phone’s pricing or availability details for global markets.
