Hyderabad Kingsmen pulled off a dramatic two-run win over Islamabad United to reach the PSL 2026 final. In a match full of twists, the debut side held their nerve when it mattered most. They defended 186 for 5 and stopped Islamabad at 184 for 7 in a tense finish at Gaddafi Stadium.
Islamabad needed just six runs in the final over to seal a place in the final. However, Hunain Shah delivered one of the best overs of the season. He gave away only three runs and turned the game around. He started with a dot ball and followed it with five perfect yorkers. The third yorker removed Faheem Ashraf, who was caught at long off. As a result, Hyderabad booked their place in Sunday’s final against Peshawar Zalmi.
Earlier, the match looked to be slipping away from Kingsmen. Chris Green and Faheem Ashraf smashed Mohammad Ali for 22 runs in the 19th over. The momentum had clearly shifted towards Islamabad. Still, Hunain stayed calm and executed his plans perfectly in the last over.
Chasing 187, Islamabad never fell far behind despite early setbacks. Mark Chapman scored 43 off 26 balls and kept the chase alive. Haider Ali added 31 off 16, while Green remained unbeaten on 21 off nine. Their quick runs brought Islamabad back into the game after a slow start.
However, Kingsmen bowlers had already created pressure earlier. Hunain Shah and Mohammad Ali took two wickets each. In addition, spinners Saim Ayub and Hassan Khan played key roles. Islamabad were reduced to 68 for 4 in ten overs. Although they recovered well, they still fell just short in the end.
Hyderabad Kingsmen also had to fight hard with the bat. They were struggling at 85 for 4 in 11.4 overs. At that point, Usman Khan and Kusal Perera changed the game. They added 101 runs in just 50 balls and shifted the momentum.
Usman remained unbeaten on 61 off 30 balls and played a fearless knock. He survived two dropped chances during his innings. On the other hand, Perera scored 37 off 21 and supported him well. Earlier, Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell fell in the same over, bowled by Imad Wasim. Before that, Saim Ayub scored 38 off 27 and helped stabilize the innings after Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for a duck by Richard Gleeson.
In the end, Kingsmen posted a total that proved just enough. The pitch favored batting, and dew made bowling difficult later. Still, Hyderabad defended the score with discipline and smart bowling.
This win marks an incredible turnaround for the Kingsmen. They lost their first four matches of the season. Now, they have won seven of their last eight games. With confidence on their side, they are just one step away from lifting the PSL 2026 trophy.
