Smartphone prices are set to rise in 2026 as DRAM costs surge under growing AI demand. Consumers will likely face higher costs, and even Apple, the world’s largest smartphone maker, is feeling the pressure.
According to industry reports, Samsung has raised its LPDDR DRAM prices by 80% compared to what it charged Apple in Q4 2025. SK Hynix, another major DRAM supplier, has increased its prices by a staggering 100%, signaling a sharp jump across the market.
Apple has traditionally managed rising component costs through long-term supplier agreements. However, sources suggest the company’s current deal with Samsung only fixes DRAM prices for the first half of 2026. This could affect the pricing of the upcoming iPhone 18 series and other new Apple devices.
Sources believe Apple may still absorb some of the increased costs, potentially keeping iPhone prices stable while aiming to grow its market share.
