Iran closed the vital Strait of Hormuz to all international vessel traffic on Saturday following recent military attacks by Israel against several targets located across southern Lebanon.
The Khatam al Anbiya Central Headquarters officially announced this sudden maritime closure through a formal statement broadcast by state TV networks regarding the escalating regional military conflict.
Tehran described the actions by Israel as a clear breach of a previous diplomatic agreement made between Iranian officials and the United States government regarding regional security.
Military commanders stated this decision represents an initial response, warning that further steps would be actively planned if external aggression continues to force compliance with international obligations.
“It is hereby announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to vessel traffic; It is noted that this first step is a response to the enemy’s breach of promise, and if the aggression continues, further steps will be planned and taken to force the enemy to comply with its obligations,” says the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters in a statement carried by state TV.
