You can also use ChatGPT’s improved voice mode to converse with the platform in near real-time. The GPT Store is an online marketplace for products and services driven by artificial intelligence.

You may be asking, “How much does ChatGPT cost?” The question is more difficult to answer than it first appears. ChatGPT is available for both premium and free plans from OpenAI, catering to a wide range of consumers including individuals, nonprofits, small and medium-sized businesses, educational institutions, and corporations.

ChatGPT Free

The free version of ChatGPT has significantly improved with OpenAI’s latest updates. Users get access to the GPT-4o mini model, web-augmented responses, the GPT Store, and file/photo uploads. Additional features include limited access to GPT-4o, Advanced Voice mode, and memory storage. Free users can also use advanced data analysis for spreadsheets and PDFs. However, there are daily limits on GPT-4o usage and file uploads, depending on demand.

ChatGPT Plus ($20/month)

ChatGPT Plus offers expanded capabilities, including 80 messages to GPT-4o every three hours and unlimited messages to GPT-4o mini. Subscribers also get access to OpenAI’s reasoning models, multimodal features like Advanced Voice mode with video and screen sharing, and limited use of new tools such as OpenAI’s deep research agent and Sora’s video generation. The upgraded data analysis feature enables interactive charts and tables from uploaded datasets, supporting direct uploads from Google Drive and OneDrive.

ChatGPT Pro ($200/month)

For power users, ChatGPT Pro offers unlimited access to GPT-4o, Advanced Voice mode, and reasoning models. It includes 120 deep research queries per month and access to o1 Pro mode, which utilizes more computing power than the Plus version. Subscribers also get OpenAI’s web-browsing agent (Operator) and expanded video generation with Sora. Pro users receive early access to new features and priority use of GPT-4o during peak times.

ChatGPT Team ($30/user/month, $25 annually)

Ideal for small businesses and teams (up to 149 users), ChatGPT Team provides a dedicated workspace, admin tools, and OpenAI’s latest models. Users can analyze and extract data from files and build custom AI-powered apps for internal use, similar to those in the GPT Store.

ChatGPT Enterprise (Reportedly ~$60/user/month, 150-user minimum)

Designed for large organizations, ChatGPT Enterprise includes enhanced privacy, data analysis, and performance features. It offers admin controls, single sign-on (SSO), domain verification, and usage analytics. Companies can create custom AI workflows and integrate ChatGPT with OpenAI’s API for tailored solutions. Enterprise users receive dedicated support, training, and invoicing options, with eligibility for Business Associate Agreements (BAA) for handling sensitive data.

ChatGPT Edu (Pricing Not Disclosed)

Tailored for universities, faculty, and students, ChatGPT Edu includes OpenAI’s latest models, higher message limits, admin controls, data analysis tools, and SSO integration. It also supports SCIM, an identity management protocol, making it easier to manage user access across institutions.

OpenAI for Nonprofits

Eligible nonprofits receive ChatGPT Team at a discounted rate of $20/user/month and a 50% discount on ChatGPT Enterprise ($30/user/month). However, OpenAI excludes academic, medical, religious, and government organizations from this program.
