The Capital Mass Transit Authority (CMTA) has increased the frequency of electric buses on three major routes in Islamabad to reduce passenger waiting times and improve public transport services.
The revised schedule came into effect on September 3, 2026, following growing demand from commuters using the city’s electric bus network.
Under the new schedule, buses operating on FR-08B, which connects Khanna Pul with Nilore, will now arrive every 12 minutes, compared with the previous 15-minute interval.
The waiting time has also been reduced on FR-09, which operates between Khanna Pul and Golra Mor. Buses on this route will now run every 12 minutes instead of every 15 minutes.
Similarly, passengers traveling on FR-14 between Barakahu and Mandi Mor will now have access to buses every 12 minutes.
The revised headways are expected to provide more frequent services and reduce the time passengers spend waiting for buses.
CMTA said the changes were introduced to improve commuter convenience and accommodate the increasing demand for public transportation in the capital.
With the updated schedule already in effect, passengers using the three routes have been advised to plan their journeys according to the revised timings.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to improve Islamabad’s public transport network and provide commuters with more efficient and reliable electric bus services.
