The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has upgraded nine secondary schools across Islamabad Capital Territory to college status, expanding intermediate education and boosting technical and computer science offerings in the capital.
According to an official notification, the newly created colleges will begin operating from the 2026-27 academic session and will offer intermediate programmes across technical, scientific, humanities and computer science disciplines.
Three schools for boys, Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X) G-10/3, Islamabad Model School for Boys (I-X) I-14, and Islamabad Model School for Boys (I-X) Chattar, have been renamed Islamabad Model Colleges and will run the Inter Tech stream.
Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X) G-9/1 has become Islamabad Model College for Boys (VI-XII) G-9/1, offering both Inter Tech and Intermediate in Computer Science (ICS) courses.
Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X) Golra has been renamed Islamabad Model College for Boys (VI-XII) Golra and will offer FSc, FA and ICS programmes, while Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI-X) Tarlai becomes Islamabad Model College for Boys (VI-XII), running FA and ICS courses.
Among girls institutions, Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X) Sangjani has been renamed Islamabad Model College for Girls (I-XII) and will introduce the Inter Tech programme.
Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X) Pind Malkan becomes Islamabad Model College for Girls (I-XII), offering FA and ICS courses, and Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-X) NHC has been elevated to Islamabad Model College for Girls (I-XII), running both Inter Tech and ICS streams.
Officials said the upgrade prioritises technical and computer education to equip students with market-relevant skills and strengthens the public education system in the capital.
