Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced that the Korangi No. 5 Flyover will be opened to traffic on August 15, marking another major addition to the city’s road infrastructure aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion.
The announcement was made during a meeting at the Council Hall, where the mayor reviewed municipal preparations for Rabi-ul-Awwal. He said the city administration has finalized a comprehensive plan to address civic issues before 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The development follows the recent inauguration of the Munawar Chowrangi Underpass in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, which has already been opened to motorists. The inauguration ceremony was attended by elected representatives, senior government officials, engineers, Karachi Development Authority (KDA) officials, and local residents.
Speaking at the event, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Mayor Murtaza Wahab said the underpass would improve traffic movement and significantly reduce travel time between several of Karachi’s busiest residential and commercial areas.
Officials believe the opening of the Korangi No. 5 Flyover will further strengthen Karachi’s transport network by easing congestion along one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors and improving daily commuting for thousands of motorists.
