The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved a $200 million loan from the World Bank to support public sector reforms and improve the province’s financial and administrative systems.
The loan, worth more than Rs. 55 billion, will be utilized under the Pakistan Public Resources for Inclusive Development Multi-Phase Programmatic Approach project.
The initiative aims to increase government revenue by strengthening the province’s tax and revenue collection systems. It will also help align public spending with key development priorities and improve the management of public resources.
The project will focus on enhancing transparency and accountability in financial management while modernizing government administrative and financial systems.
As part of the reforms, the provincial government plans to introduce a modern digital system for financial and administrative information. The system is expected to improve access to data and support more efficient decision-making.
The KP government expects the reforms to strengthen public resource management, improve institutional efficiency and enhance the overall performance of government departments.
