KP govt launches mobile app to provide guidelines during emergency

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has launched a mobile application that provides guidelines to the users on how to deal with natural disasters or calamities. The app which is called “Emergency Alert PDMA KP” contains information regarding natural disasters, event maps, warnings, relief activities, and road blockage.

Moreover, updates regarding weather alerts, rain forecasts, floods, and river flow reports are also presented in the app. The new app has arrived just a day after five people lost their lives and 18 sustained injuries in various rain-related incidents in the KP province.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the casualties took place in Peshawar, Bannu, Swabi, and other areas of KP and the injured and diseases people were quickly shifted to the nearby hospitals.

In a similar development, due to landsliding n Kaghan, several cars were destroyed, however, fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. With these kinds of incidents increasing by the day, this application will help to reduce casualties in such incidents as people will have information about storms and floods beforehand.

Aside from this emergency app, the KP government previously launched an app called kptourism, to facilitate both domestic and foreign tourists during a visit to the northern areas of Pakistan. With this tourism app, the government is hoping to attract 10 million foreign tourists to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in five years and generate 10 billion dollars in revenue.

The app will serve as a guide for the tourists and contains all the data related to all the lush green valleys, snow-capped mountains, deserts, rivers, landscapes, roads, petrol pumps, rich cultural heritage and archaeological sites, springs, waterfalls, streams, Buddhism ruins and serene spots in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The “kptourism” app is available for both Android and iOS users, and it contains images of all the beautiful places in KP to attract tourists to visit Pakistan.

Furthermore, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has also installed Pakistan’s first Internet of Things (IoT) based air quality monitoring gadget at District Nazim office in Peshawar. This innovative gadget is specifically designed to detect toxic elements present in the air.

All of these apps by the KP government are launched to facilitate the needs of people who live in the province or are planning to visit at some point. It is highly recommended to download these apps if you are planning to visit northern areas of Pakistan in the coming days, for your safety and the safety of your loved ones.
