The Health Department in Rawalpindi has shut down and sealed a laboratory on Murree Road for issuing counterfeit medical certificates required for foreign travel, following complaints from the public about the illegal operation.
Action was initiated after the Health Department received reports that the facility was selling fraudulent certificates to individuals seeking to travel abroad.
A raid on the premises led to the recovery of a large number of fake medical certificates, along with counterfeit official government stamps used to authenticate the documents.
District Sanitary Officer of the Health Department, Dr Shahid Mahmood, said the laboratory owner had been charging thousands of rupees to people applying for jobs abroad or planning to perform Hajj and Umrah, providing them with forged medical certificates in exchange for payment.
Legal proceedings have been launched against those involved, and further investigation into the operation is underway.
