Lahore Traffic Police has rolled out a new network of scooty training schools and dedicated “Gen Z counters” across the city, as authorities move to fast-track student enrollment in Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz e-bike scheme.
Five new driving training schools have been established specifically to support students applying for scooty licenses, while every licensing centre in the city now features a Gen Z counter to streamline the application process for young applicants.
Students applying for a license must bring their identity card, B-form, and a guardian to complete registration.
The scheme has already generated significant uptake, with Lahore Traffic Police issuing more than 172,000 motorcycle licenses and 6,546 juvenile permits to date.
New scooty training facilities have opened at Abshar Driving School, Liberty Khidmat Markaz, and Greater Iqbal Park, alongside additional centres at Traffic Police Lines Manawan and the LOS on Ferozepur Road.
The LOS Ferozepur Road facility has been designated exclusively for women, offering free scooty driving training as part of a broader push to expand female mobility in the city.
City Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Sherazi said the initiative has already helped thousands of women become confident, independent drivers through a women-to-women training model at Traffic Police driving schools.
Sherazi added that empowering women through such initiatives would bring lasting, visible change to society, framing the scheme as part of a wider effort to give women greater autonomy and mobility.
