Lakson Investments (LI) has been awarded the first VC license in Pakistan, CEO of the firm, yesterday, Babar Lakhani announced on LinkedIn. The application of private equity and venture capital was approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan last year.
Lakson Investments has been a major player in the Pakistan economy with some of the best business managers in the country. For example, the firm set up Lakson Investment Private Equity (LI PE) in the fourth quarter of 2014. Lakson Investment Private Equity is led by a group of partners who were previously directors at reputable firms such as Abraaj and Goldman Sachs. LI PE is still in its pre-launch phase but will start making investments by the fall of 2017.
Besides LI PE, Lakson Investments is also focused on setting up a venture capital branch named Lakson Investments Venture Capital (LI VC). LI VC is will heavily rely on the experience gained from the local economy while integrating it with the world business environment. LI VC will work for hand in hand with local and international investors in ensuring great business ideas see the light of day through funding and guidance of the entrepreneurs behind the ideas.
