Lucky Cement Limited has successfully completed and commissioned a Process Optimization and Capacity Enhancement Project at its Karachi manufacturing facility, increasing the plant’s annual cement production capacity by approximately 300,000 tons.
In a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday, the company announced that the project’s completion has raised the Karachi plant’s annual production capacity from 5.05 million tons to 5.35 million tons.
With the latest expansion, Lucky Cement’s total annual cement production capacity has increased to 15.6 million tons, further reinforcing its position as Pakistan’s largest cement manufacturer.
The company said the additional capacity was achieved through the optimization and modernization of its existing production lines rather than the installation of a new cement production line.
According to Lucky Cement, the project will also improve operational efficiency by reducing specific fuel consumption and lowering coal usage per ton of cement produced. These enhancements are expected to decrease the carbon intensity of the company’s operations while promoting more efficient utilization of resources.
The company stated that the project aligns with its long-term strategy to improve manufacturing efficiency, enhance shareholder value, and support Pakistan’s industrial growth and sustainability objectives.
