Marvel Rivals fans have a lot to celebrate right now. Developer NetEase officially drops the Season 8.5 update today, June 12. This update finally brings the long-awaited X-Men character Cyclops to the hero shooter. However, a massive new leak has already shifted community attention toward the future.
Since its launch in December 2024, Marvel Rivals has added 20 new playable characters across eight seasons. Furthermore, the game has introduced new game modes, maps, and events. Now, a fresh wave of rumors highlights the next seven fighters. According to these leaks, players will soon see heroes ranging from the mutant Nightcrawler to the iconic villain Doctor Doom.
The Leaked Marvel Rivals Character Roadmap
On June 10, prominent leaker X0XLEAK shared three separate posts on Twitter. These posts detailed the supposed hero lineup for the next three seasons. The r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit quickly collected and highlighted this information.

Shortly after, another Twitter user named MultiverSusie backed up these claims using their own anonymous sources. Consequently, the combined leaks give us a clear picture of what to expect. X0XLEAK noted that these plans could still change.

Surprise Additions & Missing Legends
Alongside the seasonal roadmap, MultiverSusie and another leaker claimed that Blue Marvel and Crescent will also join the roster. Interestingly, Marvel Comics usually portrays Crescent as a teenager. Developer NetEase has historically avoided adding child characters to the game.
When a user questioned how Crescent could fit into the game, MultiverSusie simply replied, “you’ll see soon”. Therefore, this response strongly hints that NetEase will introduce an older variant of Crescent.
Meanwhile, several previously leaked heroes remain absent from the active roster. Fans are still waiting for Captain Marvel, Professor X, Thanos, Ant-Man, and Forge to make their in-game debuts. They could potentially launch alongside Doctor Doom later this year.
Doctor Doom & MCU Synergy
Doctor Doom easily stands out as the biggest reveal in this leak. If Marvel Rivals maintains its current two-month seasonal schedule, Season 11 should launch in November. Consequently, this timeline perfectly aligns with the theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday.
Normally, Marvel Rivals does not sync its character releases with Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. However, this specific launch makes perfect strategic sense. Currently, the game features an ongoing ‘Path to Doomsday’ event that ties directly into the MCU. Therefore, releasing Doctor Doom during this window feels incredibly likely.
