Meta just rolled out a powerful new AI video assistant in its “Edits” application for Instagram creators. The company integrated this conversational chatbot into its creator-focused application to help creators boost their reach. Meta initially launched Edits last year to directly rival TikTok’s CapCut. Now, the tech giant wants to give its community a highly personalized creative partner.
Personalized Analytics Over Generic Advice
Unlike other tools, this new AI chatbot refuses to offer generic, slop-adjacent advice. Instead, it provides customized feedback based on a creator’s unique audience and performance trends.
Brett Westervelt, the lead of the Edits app, noted that the tool dives deep into your specific Instagram metrics. Specifically, it analyzes follows, views, video retention, likes, shares, and comments. Furthermore, the assistant spots performance patterns over time. It tells creators exactly why certain Reels succeed while others fail to resonate. Consequently, it suggests tailored video concepts, hooks, captions, and trending audio that fit your specific content style.
Meta AI Assistant in ‘Edits’ App Aims to Empower Instagram Creators
Meta developed this tool in close collaboration with select creators. The company first previewed the assistant at an invite-only event in June. During the development phase, creators made one thing very clear. They wanted an AI that handles the deep analytical digging, not one that takes over the actual creative work.
Therefore, the Edits assistant strictly analyzes the data. You still make all the final creative calls. Additionally, Meta is actively working on a desktop version of the Edits app to further expand its usability.
Pricing Limits & Industry Competition
The Edits AI assistant is currently free to use inside the app. However, Meta restricts users with an unspecified daily prompt limit. Once creators hit that wall, they must sign up for a Meta One subscription to unlock higher usage limits. These premium plans cater to power users and cost up to a staggering $499 per month.
Meanwhile, the competition in the creator space is rapidly heating up. YouTube plans to launch its own conversational video editing tool early next year. However, YouTube will focus heavily on assisting with the actual mechanical editing process. In contrast, Meta is prioritizing a heavily analytics-driven approach to help creators strategize and grow.
