Meta is set to charge Pakistani businesses significantly higher rates for WhatsApp Business utility, authentication and service messages under a new pricing structure taking effect from October 1, 2026.
Under the revised rates, businesses in Pakistan will pay $0.015 per message, compared with just $0.0014 in India. This means Pakistani businesses will pay around 10.7 times more than their Indian counterparts for the same categories of WhatsApp Business messages.
Pakistan’s rate is also higher than those in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Iraq. The new pricing could increase costs for businesses that rely on WhatsApp for customer support, order updates, billing notifications, authentication and other routine communications.
Meta’s pricing changes will also remove free service and utility template messages sent within WhatsApp’s 24-hour customer service window. However, businesses will receive 1,000 free service messages per business phone number each month.
The impact could be substantial for companies handling large volumes of customer communications. A business sending 300,000 eligible messages per month would pay approximately $4,500 monthly, or $54,000 annually, at Pakistan’s new rate.
By comparison, the same volume would cost around $420 per month in India and $600 in Sri Lanka, highlighting the significant pricing gap between Pakistan and other regional markets.
Pakistan’s relatively high rate could place additional pressure on businesses that depend heavily on WhatsApp for customer engagement and digital transactions. Higher communication costs may also influence how companies manage automated messages and customer support through the platform.
The new pricing structure is therefore expected to be closely watched by Pakistani businesses as they assess the impact on their digital communication and operating costs from October 1.
