MG Expands Electric SUV Range in Pakistan with Upcoming ES5 EV

Another MG electric SUV in Pakistan is on the horizon, as the all-new MG ES5 EV is set to arrive soon. Unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025, the ES5 is a compact SUV designed to further expand MG Pakistan’s electric vehicle portfolio and offer a modern alternative to conventional fuel SUVs.
The MG ES5 serves as the next-generation successor to the popular MG ZS EV in international markets like Europe, the UK, and Australia. Built on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), also used by the MG4 hatchback, the ES5 features an extended wheelbase, enhanced design elements, and upgraded technology offerings.
In terms of dimensions, the MG ES5 measures 4,476 mm in length, making it 162 mm longer than the ZS EV, with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. Its width stands at 1,849 mm, height at 1,621 mm, and its weight ranges between 1,685–1,720 kg. Unlike the upcoming MG ZS 2025, which has shifted to a hybrid-only version, the ES5 remains a fully electric model.
Sleek Exterior and Futuristic Cabin
The exterior of the MG electric SUV in Pakistan boasts a sleek, grille-less design with cyberster-inspired bumper intakes and slim, split LED headlights. A full-width LED strip defines the rear, lending the SUV a futuristic and aerodynamic appeal.
Inside, the ES5’s cabin highlights modernity and comfort, featuring a 6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a 25-inch digital instrument panel, a D-shaped steering wheel with a behind-the-wheel gear selector, wireless charging capabilities, and a practical cup holder design. Depending on the variant, the audio system includes four to six speakers.
Under the hood, the ES5 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 168 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It uses an ultra-slim lithium iron phosphate battery, developed by SAIC-CATL, available in three sizes. The largest 62.2 kWh battery offers a range of up to 525 km on the CLTC cycle. A dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version might also be introduced later.
The MG ES5 is expected to compete with models like the Kia EV4 and Peugeot E-2008. If launched competitively, this MG electric SUV in Pakistan could become a strong player in the country’s evolving EV landscape.
