Microsoft has announced another price increase for its Xbox console lineup, marking the third major adjustment in recent years. The company raised Xbox prices in May last year and followed that with another increase in October. Now, buyers will have to pay even more for the latest models.
The latest price hike affects both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles. Microsoft has increased the price of 512GB models by $100, while 1TB models now cost $150 more. At the same time, the company has discontinued the 2TB version.
| Model | New Price | Previous Price |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series S (512GB) | $499 | $399 |
| Xbox Series S (1TB) | $599 | $449 |
| Xbox Series X Digital (1TB) | $749 | $599 |
| Xbox Series X (1TB) | $799 | $649 |
Microsoft says the latest increase is due to rising memory and storage costs. However, the company did not mention that strong demand for AI data centers has pushed up memory prices across the industry. Microsoft has invested heavily in AI infrastructure, making it one of the companies contributing to that growing demand.
As a result, higher component costs are now affecting gaming hardware prices as well. Consumers are paying more for Xbox consoles as memory and storage become increasingly expensive.
Despite the latest increase, the Xbox Series lineup still costs less than the Steam Machine. Buyers also continue to get a controller included with the console.
