Mobile phone users have been dealt another financial blow as cellular operators have increased the prices of call and data packages by 19 to 33 percent on an annual basis, following approval of revised tariff sheets by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The PTA has published updated tariff sheets for 15 hybrid and data-only packages, reflecting the latest prices, package validity, quarterly price changes, and bundled voice and data allowances offered by mobile operators.
The revised tariffs show that the price of monthly call and data packages has increased by up to Rs500, while 15-day packages have become costlier by up to Rs300. Similarly, weekly hybrid packages have witnessed hikes of up to Rs130, three-day packages by up to Rs21, two-day bundles by up to Rs20, and one-day hybrid packages by up to Rs5.
The latest increase comes at a time when consumers are already grappling with rising inflation and higher communication costs, adding to the financial burden on millions of mobile subscribers across the country.
According to the PTA, the publication of standardized tariff sheets is aimed at enhancing transparency and enabling consumers to compare call and data packages offered by different mobile operators before selecting the package that best suits their needs.
The authority said the revised tariff sheets contain complete information on package prices, validity periods, quarterly price revisions, and available services, allowing subscribers to make informed choices.
