Mobile phone services suspended in various parts of Pakistan

Mobile phone services are suspended in various parts of Pakistan today in consideration of Chehlum Security Plan.

The Interior Ministry of Sindh has made the decision to shut down mobile services in high risk areas of Sindh and also Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, November 21, 2016. Sources have confirmed that the security measures are being taken on the recommendation of intelligence agencies.

Service will not be available in Sindh from 12.00 noon till 10.00 pm while in Gilgit-Baltistan the duration will be from 12.00 till 6.00 pm in the evening. Mobile services will also remain suspended in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that include D.I Khan, Peshawar and Kohat.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is not allowed to suspend mobile services in any part of the country without “Proclamation of Emergency” by President. PTA is just implementing the orders issued by interior ministry and Inter-Services Intelligence.

Pillion riding has also been banned in Karachi on November 20 and 21. Anyone breaking the law will be immediately taken into police custody. 100 citizens and more that 50 motorcycles have already been taken into custody.
