NADRA Locks Down Web Access to Protect Citizen Data from Cyber Scams

In a decisive move to counter the rising threat of digital fraud, the National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA) has rolled out a series of stringent security measures aimed at protecting citizens’ personal information from unauthorized access.

According to recent developments, NADRA has taken proactive steps to prevent fraudsters from exploiting fake websites that were being used to collect sensitive data under false pretenses. These fraudulent platforms had jeopardized the privacy of citizens and led to financial scams, particularly targeting individuals attempting to process identity documents online.

All identity document services are currently accessible exclusively through NADRA’s web portal, which is currently unavailable.  The PakID feature of the online platform has been removed by NADRA in order to protect the security and integrity of its database.

NADRA has implemented its official PakID mobile application to facilitate the distribution of both Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and Family Registration Certificates (FRCs). This application is responsible for essential identity-related activities.  This move also enhances digital security by implementing central access, which provides an additional layer of protection.

Although overseas Pakistanis are experiencing difficulty adapting to the use of web portals, the authority maintains that these modifications are essential for ensuring data security and averting future fraud.

With the implementation of these new security protocols, NADRA aims to reinforce trust in its systems and safeguard the digital identities of millions of Pakistanis against evolving cyber threats.
