The government has raised profit rates on several National Savings schemes and certificates, with increases ranging from 12 to 74 basis points, according to an official notification issued on the matter.
The Special Savings Certificate saw the largest increase of 74 basis points, taking its rate to 11.82 percent. The Regular Income Certificate rate rose by 60 basis points to 11.76 percent, while the Defence Savings Certificate gained 19 basis points to reach 11.80 percent.
For pensioners and widows, the Behbood and Pension certificates, among the most widely used schemes in these groups, have been raised by 12 basis points. Their new rate is 12.72 percent, the highest among the revised schemes.
The notification also revised rates for Islamic savings products. The Sarwa Islamic Term Account (3 years) now offers 11.57 percent after a 41-basis-point increase, while the 5-year account rose by 54 basis points to 11.70 percent.
