According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter, OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is set to air its first-ever television commercial during this Sunday’s Super Bowl.
There is a premium on originality since Super Bowl commercials have the potential to create enormous buzz, and the event’s massive guaranteed audience makes it one of the most sought-after broadcast events in the world for advertisers.
According to the publication, this Super Bowl advertisement would represent OpenAI’s debut in the world of commercial advertising. During last year’s Super Bowl, competitors like Google showcased their artificial intelligence capabilities.
Reuters reached out to OpenAI for comment, but the company did not immediately respond.
Chief Content Officer of Adweek Zoe Ruderman stated that 30-second Super Bowl ads had gone as high as $8 million, up from $7 million for a comparable spot on CBS last year.
Nearly 210 million people tuned in to see the 2024 Super Bowl. The 59th Super Bowl is set to take place on February 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET (2330 GMT). The New Orleans Saints’ home stadium, the Caesars Superdome, which can hold 83,000 spectators, will host the NFL championship game in New Orleans.
After releasing ChatGPT in late 2022, Sam Altman’s OpenAI, a company partially owned by Microsoft reached 300 million active users every week by 2025.
According to media sources, the artificial intelligence firm recruited Kate Rouch as its first chief marketing officer in December of last year. The company is reportedly in discussions to fund $40 billion at a valuation of $300 billion.
