OpenAI’s Sora Video Generation Model Now Available in the EU and UK

OpenAI has expanded the availability of its video generation model, Sora, to users in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland. This launch, announced on Friday, opens access to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers in these regions, allowing them to create videos from text using the advanced AI model.

Sora was introduced in February 2024 and became available in December 2024 to ChatGPT Pro and ChatGPT Plus subscribers, although only in certain countries. This model was initially developed as a study preview for safety testers.

Users can now create videos with Sora by simply giving text instructions, which represents a significant advancement in AI technology for multimedia content creation. The upcoming release will include personalised cost structures for OpenAI’s user groups based on their needs.
