Pakistan offers best investment opportunities in technology sector, Foreign Minister

In his efforts to boost Pakistan’s economy, the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has urged Chinese technology companies to invest in the ICT sector of the country. He said that Pakistan is an important country in Asia for technology investment.

Mr. Qureshi recently met with President of Huawei Technologies for Middle East Region, Mr. Charles Yang in Islamabad and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, the Minister discussed how Chinese companies can benefit from Pakistan’s productive environment by investing in the technology sector.

While expressing his views, president of Huawei Technologies said that his company was going to make a significant increase in the investment volume in Pakistan, which consequently will result in economic opportunities in the country.

Meanwhile, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has encouraged the Chinese tech company to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. He said that “Pakistan offers best investment opportunities in the technology sector.”

Qureshi told Chinese envoy that several international companies, including Huawei, have been doing profitable business in the country by taking advantage of business-friendly policies of the government of Pakistan.

Last month, Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad had said that Pakistan is the most important country in Asia for investment in the field of technology. Fawad Chaudhry invited Zhonghua Mei and other officials of the Chinese telecom giant ZTE to give technical assistance to boost the technology sector of the country.

Though Pakistan is facing big challenges these days including the devaluation of rupee against the dollar after dealing with the IMF, there are certain forthcoming projects that can reduce outrageousness in the country. These projects include the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which will enable Pakistan to get foreign capital and advanced technology.
