Pakistan Railways is considering operating three special trains for Eid ul Azha to facilitate passengers expected to travel during the holiday season.
According to reports, railway authorities are reviewing a proposal under which all three special services would operate exclusively in economy class to accommodate a larger number of travelers.
If approved, the proposed schedule includes:
- May 23: Quetta to Karachi
- May 24: Karachi to Rawalpindi
- May 25: Karachi to Lahore
Sources said the proposal is currently under review at Railway Headquarters, and a final decision has not yet been officially announced.
The planned operation suggests that Pakistan Railways is aiming to manage increased Eid travel demand through a limited special service arrangement this year.
All proposed trains are expected to serve economy-class passengers only, reflecting a focus on regular and high-volume travelers during the festive period.
Sources further indicated that the number of special trains has been kept limited due to the unavailability of a power plant, which has created operational constraints for the department.
A formal announcement is expected once final approval is granted.
