Pakistan’s weekly inflation declined by 0.91%, while the annual inflation rate stood at 9.05%, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Despite the overall weekly decline, prices of 27 essential commodities increased during the week, including petrol, diesel, onions, eggs, ghee, flour, pulses, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The PBS report showed that prices of six commodities decreased, while 18 items remained unchanged during the review period.
Fuel and Food Prices Rise
Fuel prices recorded some of the sharpest increases during the week.
- High-speed diesel: up 4.17%
- Petrol: up 2.46%
- Onions: up 7.62%
- Eggs: up 3.16%
Prices of ghee, flour, pulses, and LPG also increased compared with the previous week.
The report also highlighted price declines for several key food items.
- Tomatoes: down 22.96%
- Chicken: down 11.20%
In addition, sugar prices and electricity charges also declined during the reporting period.
The latest PBS data indicates mixed price movements, with higher fuel and food costs offsetting declines in other commodities, resulting in an overall fall in weekly inflation.
