Pakistani Hackers Hack Indian Military Websites, Put Data For Sale

Pakistan’s cyber forces claimed a major breach of Indian military and government websites on May 10, 2025, hacking platforms including the Assam Rifles official site, the Department of Atomic Energy portal, and the Defense Production website. The hackers then went on to upload the Indian sensitive data for sale on the dark web in a move New Delhi decried as a threat to national security.
Details of the Breach
According to Pakistan Observer, the hackers defaced multiple Indian defense-related sites, inserting propaganda that accused India of supporting terrorism and exposing alleged terrorist hubs within Indian territory.
Most alarmingly, extracts of confidential data, purportedly containing deployment records and operational details. were advertised to the highest bidder, highlighting critical vulnerabilities in India’s cyber defenses.
India’s Official Response
India’s Defense Ministry and the Press Information Bureau have not officially confirmed the scale of the breach but have initiated emergency cybersecurity protocols and forensic investigations to assess any data exfiltration or system compromises.
Senior officials emphasized that all critical command-and-control systems operate on isolated networks, reducing the risk of operational disruption despite the website intrusions.
There have been several cyber incidents since late April; India claims that Pakistani forces blocked satellites (SOCRadar® Cyber Intelligence Inc.), while Pakistan Cyber Force claims responsibility for attacks on Indian Army educational portals and charity sites.
In this game for he-said-she-said, cybersecurity experts say the continuous confrontation between India and Pakistan has set a precedent to use each others’ digital shortcomings for wartime benefit.
