A new Tekken 8 powerhouse has emerged from the Pakistani slums. Khawaja Muhammad Zubair, playing under the All Gamers banner, just secured the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 Tekken 8 championship. Better known as Bablu, the Dragunov main conquered a grueling 4-day tournament to claim the ultimate victory. He walked away with a massive $250,000 base prize. Furthermore, he earned the prestigious Jafonso Award, taking home an additional $50,000 for winning both the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) and the Main Event.
Surviving the Group of Death
Zubair’s journey began with a brutal LCQ run. Numan Ch forced a Grand Final reset, but Zubair quickly escalated his gameplay to secure his main event spot. The organizers subsequently placed Zubair into Group DD for the initial phase, Group Stage 1, of the tournament. Fans quickly labeled this the “group of death”. It featured heavyweights like defending two-time EWC champion Ulsan, Tekken legend Knee, and fellow Pakistani talent Farzeen.
Zubair immediately shocked the crowd. He defeated Ulsan in his very first match. Keisuke then handed Zubair a crushing defeat, sending him to the Lower Bracket. However, Zubair kept his cool. He swept AO to qualify for the next stage.
Zubair Took Down the Titans
The Group Stage 2 introduced a ruthless format. Upper Bracket winners handpicked their Lower Bracket opponents. The Jon challenged Bablu, attempting to play mind games as he had a history of defeating Zubair in local dojos and tournament. Zubair simply ignored the noise and defeated him. Next, he dismantled the undisputed GOAT of Tekken, Arslan Ash, to secure his Playoffs spot.
For the Finals Bracket, Zubair picked Raef as his first opponent and dispatched him in the Quarterfinals. This critical victory set up a dramatic rematch against Arslan Ash in the Semifinals. The ensuing nine-game series became an absolute bloodbath.
Arslan Ash took the first game with Nina. Bablu fired back with his Dragunov, claiming two consecutive wins. Ash then switched to Zafina and utterly dominated. He won three straight games to push Bablu to tournament point. Bablu refused to fold. He adapted instantly, clutching two nail-biting games that went down to the final round. Forced back to Nina, Ash crumbled. Bablu comfortably secured the series victory. Consequently, he defeated the GOAT twice in a single tournament.
A Flawless Grand Final Sweep
The Grand Final proved entirely one-sided. Bablu faced LowHigh, arguably the best player in Korea right now. LowHigh looked completely lost under the immense pressure. Bablu manhandled his opponent, delivering a flawless 5-0 sweep to claim the championship.
Ultimately, Bablu conquered the defending champion, his nemesis, the undisputed GOAT, and Korea’s finest all in a single tournament. He has officially cemented his legacy in the global fighting game community. Pakistan’s Tekken legacy is surely in safe hands.
