Local mobile phone manufacturing and assembly in Pakistan reached 3.90 million units in July 2026. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), production rose 9 percent year over year. Production also jumped 102 percent from June, showing a strong monthly recovery. Topline Research linked the rise to renewed demand after consumers delayed purchases before the FY27 budget.
Despite July’s growth, local production remained lower for the year so far. During the first seven months of 2026, manufacturers produced 17.00 million units. That compares with 17.83 million units during the same period in 2025, marking a 5 percent decline.
Mobile phone imports also dropped sharply during July. Imports fell 35 percent year over year and 83 percent month over month. Total imports stood at just 0.11 million units during the month.
As a result, locally made and assembled phones covered 97 percent of demand in July. This was a notable increase from 75 percent in May 2026. Local production met 86 percent of total demand during the first seven months of 2026.
Pakistan’s overall mobile phone market also grew in July. The market reached 4.01 million units, compared with 3.76 million units a year earlier. That represents 7 percent year-over-year growth.
The latest figures show a strong shift toward locally manufactured and assembled phones. However, production for the first seven months remains below last year’s level.
