A new AI-powered search engine called Perplexity Assistant has been introduced for Android devices. It is expected to compete with ChatGPT from OpenAI, Gemini from Google, and Siri from Apple.
This release follows the recent release of Sonar, an application programming interface (API) that enables businesses and programmers to incorporate the generative artificial intelligence search capabilities of the firm into their own software.
The AI assistant uses reasoning, search, and apps to aid users with daily tasks; it is available via the Perplexity app.
Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, said in an X (formerly Twitter) post that the Perplexity Assistant’s actions aren’t foolproof, but that the company will fix this in the next months.
Srinivas also pointed out that the AI assistant is limited to summarising unsent emails and forthcoming calendar events.
Asking queries about the user’s immediate environment, this multimodal AI assistant makes use of the camera on the user’s smartphone.
All fifteen languages supported by the AI assistant—English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Hindi will be available to Perplexity users at no cost at the outset.
Notably, last week, OpenAI also released a comparable feature to ChatGPT Team and Pro customers; it’s called Tasks.
Users can ask queries and get thorough responses utilizing Perplexity’s AI skills. It’s a popular search assistant.
According to reports, Perplexity has amassed capital of more than $500 million since its inception in 2022. It serves as both an AI search tool and a resource for information, making it a popular choice for everyone from tech lovers to regular learners.
