Capcom’s new sci-fi action-adventure game, Pragmata, has officially sold over one million copies. Notably, it achieved this milestone within just two days of its April 2026 release. Capcom delivered a perfect “dad simulator” that seems to be sitting very well with the gaming community.
Despite being a brand-new IP, the game quickly rose to the top three most-played games on Steam. Furthermore, this success comes after a turbulent development cycle. Capcom initially announced the title in 2020 with a 2022 release target. However, multiple delays and a long period of radio silence left fans worried about development hell. Fortunately, the wait paid off. A team of newer, younger developers at Capcom took a risk, and they delivered a game that is receiving largely positive feedback.
Player counts and sales will likely continue to climb. Previously, the game accumulated over two million wishlists and two million downloads for its free demo. Therefore, a strong unmet demand still exists. Additionally, the Switch 2 version is not yet available in all regions. A worldwide release on this platform will undoubtedly provide an additional sales bump.
Currently, Capcom boasts three of the highest-rated games of 2026, including Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem. Moreover, the company plans to release Onimusha: Way of the Sword later this year. Meanwhile, other industry titles like Pokémon Pokopia and Crimson Desert are also seeing massive success in the 2026 gaming landscape. Still, Pragmata falls short of Capcom’s all-time record. In 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds sold a staggering eight million copies in three days. Nevertheless, Pragmata remains an undeniable success for the company.
