Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved public attendance at the Pakistan Super League Season (PSL) 11 final, reversing a restriction that banned fans throughout this season.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision on Saturday, confirming that Sharif granted the approval following direct requests from PCB and franchise owners.
Naqvi had personally approached the prime minister to seek an exemption, requesting that fans be permitted to watch the season-ending final match as a special case outside normal austerity guidelines.
Franchise owners also formally supported the request, urging the prime minister to allow spectators into the stadium specifically for the high-profile final match of the tournament.
Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged the importance of the ongoing national austerity measures but agreed to approve fan attendance at the final as a one-time exception to current policy.
PCB Chairman Naqvi publicly thanked the prime minister for granting approval, describing the decision as a positive outcome for Pakistani cricket fans awaiting the final.
The PSL 11 final is scheduled to take place in Lahore on Saturday, 3 May 2026, bringing the current season of the tournament to its conclusion.
Spectators had been barred from attending all PSL matches this season under cost-cutting measures introduced as part of the government’s broader national austerity programme.
