Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has decided to only take bids for technology related work from companies which are registered with Pakistan Software Houses Association(P@SHA). The announcement was made at the recently organized PITB round table conference where a new IT policy for province Punjab was put forth for feedback and suggestions.
Presiding the round table and speaking to over 120 technology leaders from Punjab and across Pakistan, Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif mentioned that it is important for technology organizations to get registered with P@SHA before bidding. When a P@SHA registered entity bids, it indirectly gives the message that the organization is vouched and its information is available on the internet.
He mentioned that this is a two-way road. It will help companies organize themselves before bidding for work and on the other hand, it will help P@SHA keep their data updated as the current data is quite stale.
Now if PITB receives a bid, in order to move forward, it will first check the organization details at P@SHA’s website.
Among other things discussed at the round table were IT census across Pakistan for which PITB will act as a funding body and formation of focus groups to solves the pressing issues in the technology industry with active collaboration from the key stake holders.
