The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department will launch a province-wide crackdown on token tax and property tax defaulters from October 1, 2026, following the September 30 deadline for payments.
According to Excise officials, vehicle owners can clear outstanding token tax under normal payment terms until September 30. After the deadline, defaulters will be required to pay the outstanding amount along with an equal amount as a penalty, effectively doubling the unpaid token tax.
Property taxpayers have also been given until September 30 to benefit from a 5% concession. The department will begin stricter recovery measures from October 1, with long-term commercial property defaulters potentially facing sealing action.
Officials said the enforcement drive will particularly focus on commercial properties that have remained in default for several years.
The Excise and Taxation Department has urged vehicle owners and property taxpayers with outstanding dues to make their payments before the deadline to avoid additional penalties and recovery measures. Citizens can also check and pay certain dues through the department’s online services.
The recovery campaign is part of the department’s efforts to meet its Rs. 125 billion revenue target and recover outstanding taxes from defaulters across Punjab.
