Pakistan has launched a QR-based digital payment system for traffic fines on selected motorways, developed in collaboration with the NHA, NHMP, and Zindigi-JS Bank.
The pilot initiative, aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Cashless Pakistan vision of Prime Minister, allows motorists to pay e-challans through Raast QR using any banking app.
The system has been introduced on three key routes: the M1 Motorway between Islamabad and Peshawar, the M2 Motorway between Islamabad and Lahore, and the Islamabad-Murree Expressway.
Under the new mechanism, speeding fines issued on designated motorway routes can be paid instantly through Raast QR, eliminating the need for cash payments by motorists.
The initiative aims to make challan payments faster, more transparent, and more convenient, reducing reliance on manual cash collection and enabling direct mobile-based digital transactions.
Authorities will evaluate the performance of the system during the pilot phase before deciding on expansion to additional motorway and highway routes across the country.
