The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has extended the Punjab Safe Cities Authority automatic e-challan system to 14 additional locations across the city in a bid to strengthen traffic law enforcement and reduce road accidents.
A police spokesperson said the high-tech camera network would issue automated fines directly to violators without the need to stop vehicles manually, a measure aimed at ensuring stricter compliance, cutting down collisions and improving public safety on city roads.
The newly activated e-challan points include Abid Majeed Road near Army Medical College, Lane 4 on Main Peshawar Road, Raafi Mall on Main Peshawar Road, Chauhar Chowk on Main Peshawar Road, Chishtia Abad Turn on Main Peshawar Road, Rawal Road near Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Hameed Khan Chowk on Murree Road and Committee Chowk near the Fish Market on Murree Road.
Cameras have also been installed at Bohar Bazaar opposite Naaz Cinema on Murree Road, Double Road Turn in Shalimar, Dhoke Khallo near Sixth Road, the Survey of Pakistan U-Turn on Murree Road, Sanober City on Main Adiala Road and the U-Turn Chowk near the Punjab Housing Authority on Main Adiala Road.
The police spokesperson urged commuters to strictly observe speed limits and follow traffic regulations, stressing that civic compliance remains essential for maintaining a safer and better-managed road network in the city.
