Redmi has officially confirmed that the K90 Ultra will launch in China on June 30. The announcement came through the company’s official Weibo account. Alongside the launch date, Redmi also shared the phone’s design and several key specifications.
The Redmi K90 Ultra will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Despite using the current-generation processor, Redmi claims the device can match or even outperform smartphones powered by the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip in gaming tests.
According to the company, the performance boost comes from a built-in active cooling fan. Redmi says the cooling system can reduce the phone’s temperature by up to 10°C within 100 seconds. This allows the device to maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions.
Redmi has also confirmed that the K90 Ultra offers full-grade dust and water resistance. The smartphone features a 6.83-inch display with slim bezels and an aluminum alloy middle frame. On the back, it includes a dual-camera setup housed in a raised rectangular camera module that also accommodates the active cooling fan.
The company showcased the device in a Space Silver color option. The design highlights a premium finish while emphasizing its gaming-focused cooling system.
In performance claims, Redmi says the K90 Ultra can sustain 60fps at the highest graphics settings for 60 minutes without throttling. By comparison, the company claims devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset begin throttling after 20 minutes under similar conditions.
Furthermore, Redmi states that the phone can maintain 144fps in a MOBA game for up to 180 minutes at an ambient temperature of 30°C without performance drops. In contrast, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered devices are said to start throttling after 35 minutes.
Redmi has also confirmed that the K90 Ultra will be positioned in the CNY 3,000 price segment, which is roughly $440. The company is expected to share additional details about the smartphone in the days leading up to its official debut next week.
