Recently, an accidental leak revealed massive details about the upcoming ‘Resident Evil Requiem’ story DLC. Fans waiting for new content finally have answers. Haris Orkin, the writer for Resident Evil Requiem, inadvertently spilled the game’s secrets during a recent public appearance.
Orkin sat down for an interview on the “Distance NERDing Podcast” at Meadowlark Comic Con. During the chat, he discussed his career and his passion for writing villains. He explained that villains typically view themselves as the “hero of their own story”. Consequently, Orkin slipped up and confirmed that Oswell E. Spencer, the infamous founder of Umbrella Corp., will be the primary focus of the upcoming DLC.

Furthermore, the expansion will heavily explore Spencer’s unexpected character arc. Long-time players were shocked when Requiem portrayed the outright villain as Grace’s adoptive parent. Now, the DLC promises to dive deeper into that radical shift.
Flashbacks & the Spencer Mansion
This accidental confirmation lends serious credibility to previous rumors. Back in August, a prominent leaker claimed the original Spencer Mansion would appear in the DLC. However, the original Resident Evil game completely destroyed that iconic location. Therefore, developers will likely feature the mansion through flashback sequences set during Spencer’s lifetime, long before the events of the first game.
Currently, nobody knows exactly how much screen time Spencer will receive. Orkin quickly realized he said too much during the podcast and stopped sharing details. Until Capcom makes an official announcement, the exact scope of the DLC remains a mystery.
Resident Evil Requiem DLC Release & Future Tie-Ins
Unfortunately, players will wait a while to experience this new story. The Resident Evil Requiem DLC currently lacks an official release date. Rumors strongly indicate the expansion will not launch until 2027 or later.
Meanwhile, Capcom is shifting its strategy. The publisher is actively pivoting the Resident Evil franchise to an annual release schedule. ‘Resident Evil Veronica’ will launch next year. Additionally, insiders report that a ‘Resident Evil Zero’ remake remains in active development.
Leaks suggest that both Zero and Veronica will directly tie into the events of Requiem. Ultimately, Capcom may use these upcoming titles to retcon franchise history and establish the groundwork for Spencer’s drastic character shift. Fans will have plenty of Resident Evil content to play while they wait for the truth.
