Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 8.5 alongside the Galaxy S26 series in January. A leaked early build has already revealed a new AI-driven feature: notification summaries.
The feature is simple. AI will condense lengthy alerts into short, easy-to-read summaries. When you first pull down the notification shade, a pop-up introduces the option. You can dismiss it or enable it directly in Settings.
Within Settings, users will be able to exclude specific apps from summaries. However, the leaked build still lists every installed app by default. The exclusion feature doesn’t work yet, but it should be fixed before release.
According to the source, One UI 8.5 also introduces a system-level double-tap gesture on the back of the phone. This allows users to trigger an action or launch an app instantly. Previously, this was only possible through Samsung’s Good Lock app, but now it comes baked into the interface.
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 continues to expand on convenience and personalization. The software update aims to deliver smoother control, smarter notifications, and a more seamless experience when paired with the Galaxy S26 lineup.
