The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 4,761 new companies in August 2026, bringing the total number of registered companies in the country to 311,765.
According to the SECP, 99.9 percent of the registrations were completed through its online system during the month, highlighting the growing adoption of digital services. Three foreign companies also registered their presence in Pakistan during August.
Among the newly registered companies, 2,762 were private companies, while 1,846 were single-member companies.
The information technology sector recorded the highest number of new registrations with 872 companies. Trading followed with 732 registrations, while the services sector recorded 601 new companies. The construction sector added 295 companies, and tourism accounted for another 232 registrations.
Punjab recorded the highest number of new company registrations during the month, with 2,547 companies. Islamabad followed with 843 registrations, while Sindh registered 702 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 407 new companies.
Gilgit-Baltistan registered 151 companies, while Balochistan recorded 111 new registrations.
The SECP further revealed that 134 foreign investors invested in newly registered companies during August. Chinese investors accounted for the largest share, with 106 investors participating in the new businesses.
SECP Chairman said the continued increase in company registrations reflects improving business confidence and the impact of digital transformation on Pakistan’s corporate registration process.
The latest figures indicate continued growth in formal business activity, particularly in sectors such as IT, trading, services and tourism.
